Mayhem is a Norwegian black metal band known for their controversial and iconic album covers. One of their most famous album covers is for their debut album "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas," released in 1994.
The cover features a photograph of the band's former guitarist, Øystein Aarseth (also known as Euronymous), lying dead on the floor of their rehearsal space after being murdered by fellow band member Varg Vikernes. The photo was taken by the band's drummer, Jan Axel Blomberg (Hellhammer).
